We live in a world where it’s not a matter of if disaster will occur, but rather when disaster will occur. Because of this, it is important to be ready for anything at any time, but unfortunately, sometime it is impossible to be fully prepared for the worse. Luckily, however, there are individuals at the ready to help out in any way when disaster occurs, and they are known as first responders. But who are first responders? Find out more about first responders here.
Paramedics and EMTs
When injury or tragedy happens, paramedics and EMTs show up to take control of the situation and provide medical aide or transportation to a hospital. Paramedics are individuals that give medical aide and stay in the back with the passengers or patients when an ambulance ride is needed to take someone to the hospital. An EMT is the professional trained to use the ambulance’s onboard equipment and to properly and safely navigate through traffic, both on the way to an accident and on the way to the hospital.
Going by the motto “To Protect and Serve,” police are often the first to show up, especially in times of danger. Police charge head first into danger situations to ensure our safety and well being, and without them, who would we call if we had dangerous problems, or needed defense against crimes that are committed against us? When you dial 9-1-1 and the dispatcher sends out the correct team for your issue, police are usually the first on the scene.
There’s more to fighting fires in a day in the life of a firefighter. Firefighters rush towards buildings on fire to not only put out the fire, but also risk life and limb to enter burning and collapsing buildings to save any endangered life that may still be inside. Aside from fighting fires, firefighters can also give some first aid, and can typically show up with ambulances or before them if extra help is necessary.
First responders are a big help to our overall well being with how fearlessly they head towards disaster as everyone else flees from it. For as much as they do for us, how can we give back to them? A good option to help give back to a first responder you know would be to sign them up for Pay It Forward Everyday, where exclusive first responder discounts can be obtained to provide first responders with discounts from anything to trips to the store, dinner at restaurants, or exclusive discounts on cruises and other travel packages.
